About Us

The Gig Harbor Peninsula Historical Society opened a museum in 1976 to document and share the region's heritage and the rich and varied stories of our community.  The Harbor History Museum opened as the Historical Society's permanent home on September 18, 2010.  The Harbor History Museum's mission is to inspire curiosity about local history and cultural traditions as they connect to the world around us.

The Harbor History Museum is a 501c(3) tax exempt organization. Our federal tax identification number is 23-7440330.
